Caroline Deignan

Caroline Deignan

Caroline exudes empathy. Fascinated by the intersection of health and human behaviour, she has built a colourful career in public health seeking to understand health outcomes through the way people live, think, and act.

Since her big move from Boston to Cape Town in 2016 to pursue her MPH at the University of Cape Town, Caroline has contributed to a number of projects that explore health topics through the lens of social and behaviour change. Her experience researching behaviours that fuel tuberculosis transmission, perceptions around HPV vaccination, climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies, and leveraging user insights to design new family planning methods has cemented her belief that it’s the people closest to the problem that hold the most valuable insight for solutions.

When Caroline isn’t bouncing between the US and South Africa, you’ll find her hiking in the mountains, enjoying a book on the beach, boxing, biking or catching up with friends and family.
